Artist Bio
William Alden Brown (b. 1877) was a Rhode Island/Providence School artist known for landscapes, influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement, who spent time in Woodstock, NY, painting scenes like Wintry Solitude, Woodstock (1913) and Afternoon View of Mount Overlook, connecting to the area’s art scene, particularly Byrdcliffe, though he’s less known today.
